The Japanese Cabinet made the announcement on April 29 that Prof. Dr.
Wolfgang Sauerwein, the invited professor at the Neutron Therapy Research Center (NTRC) of Okayama University, the former professor at
University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, had won the award of “The Order
of Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon” (旭日中綬章) in recognition of his
great contributions in research and education in both countries of
Japan and Germany as an expert in radiotherapy in the field of cancer
research. He is especially exerting every effort on the research and
dissemination of Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). Since 2018 he has
been working with researchers at NTRC as the invited professor. We
sincerely express our heartfelt congratulations to him for this great
achievement, and wish him all the best in the future.
