On June 18, Okayama University held a Study in Japan×Career Webinar
“SENPAI NI KIKOU!” jointly hosted by JAGAM (Japan Graduates' Association
of Malaysia) as a part of Study in Japan Global Network Project in
ASEAN commissioned by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science
and Technology (MEXT). Intended audience was people from Malaysia and
other ASEAN region who would like to study and work in Japan, and there
were 78 participants at the webinar.
Wei Chain Lee, who has graduated from Okayama University and currently
working in Japan, and Olivia Lam, who is Vice Chairman of JAGAM,
delivered presentations about studying and working in Japan based on
their experiences. As seniors in terms of studying and working in Japan,
they provided wide range of useful information: attractive points of
Japan, why Japan is the best choice, how to learn Japanese, research
activities at graduate schools, Japanese unique job-hunting style, tips
for smooth communication with Japanese, etc. In addition, they
emphasized benefits of studying in Japan and the fact challenges would
lead to growth, and the growth would enrich our lives.
After presentations, Raymond Tan, who is Education Counselor of JASSO
Malaysia, explained how to study in Japan with concrete descriptions.
Lastly, Asami Torigoe, our project coordinator, introduced our project
overview and other upcoming events.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the number of students from ASEAN who are
interested in studying in Japan has been growing. This webinar was
well-received for young generations from Malaysia and other ASEAN region
who aim to study in Japan in the near future.
