Recently, Nikkei BP Consulting released the results of its “University
Brand Image Survey 2021-2022”, an online survey examining people’s
awareness of universities in Japan. Okayama University was ranked as one
among nine universities recognized for their active contribution to the
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The survey was held in August this year and looked at brand
awareness/brand image of 459 universities across the country. Nikkei BP
Consulting announced the results on November 24. Okayama University was
recognized as a university actively promoting the SDGs, ranking first in
a new category called “Universities actively contributing to the SDGs
through initiatives and activities” in the Chugoku and Shikoku regions
(and tenth nationwide).
In the businesspeople section, Okayama University ranked first for the
student image of “having leadership skills”, “being mentally strong”,
and “being good at languages”.
In the parents section, Okayama University ranked first in twelve
images, including “high status”, “name recognition”, “substantial number
of faculties and departments” and “good location”. Additionally,
parents ranked Okayama University first in the following categories
pertaining to brand loyalty: “University recognition rate”, “Enrollment
Recommendation Rate”, “Adoption Intention Rate”.
Okayama University actively promotes the SDGs and was the only national
public university to be recognized in the first Japan SDGs Award held in
2017. As “a Research University for the Advancement of SDGs and
Well-being that Continues to Create and Deliver New Value”, we are
vigorously engaged in education, research, and social contribution
activities. We will continue to pursue sustainability and well-being,
contributing both locally and globally.
