On June 18, the Discovery Program for Global Learners (aka “GDP")
held an online admissions information session. A total of 120 high
school students, parents, and high school teachers from both Japan and
abroad participated in the event.
During the information session, the program faculty gave a general
explanation of the program and its admissions process, after which
current students elaborated on their experiences as GDP students. Then,
participants were divided into small groups for a Q&A session with
program faculty and current students, giving participants a chance to
get a feel for the program for themselves. The meeting was a great
success, with many participants coming prepared to actively ask
questions about the admissions process, curriculum, and student life
after having watched a video introducing the program in advance.
GDP was established in October 2017 as a faculty where international
students from all over the world, returnees, and graduates from high
schools in Japan can come together to study subjects from a wide variety
of fields while sharing their diverse cultures and experiences. The
program aims to nurture students to be active on the global stage by
encouraging them to design a unique program of study that is not
restricted by department or faculty.
